FEP silver plated film (polytetrafluoroethylene silver plated film) - based on F46 film, high-precision vacuum evaporation of high purity silver layer, combining the excellent dielectric properties of fluoroplastics with the high reflectivity and conductivity of metallic silver.

Product Overview

FEP (F46) is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene, which retains the excellent chemical inertness and wide temperature stability of PTFE while possessing thermoplastic processing capability. The silver plating layer endows the film with high conductivity and high infrared reflectivity.
Advanced Institute (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd. has adopted a self-developed roll to roll magnetron sputtering process to achieve stable mass production of ultra-thin (≤ 10 μ m) FEP silver plated films, promoting the independent controllability of high-end composite films.

�� Roll to roll vacuum evaporation process
By adopting mature roll to roll continuous coating technology, uniform and high adhesion silver layer deposition can be achieved on large format FEP films, and the consistency and yield of mass production are among the top in the industry.
�� Aerospace grade thermal control performance
The solar absorption ratio is as low as 0.08, the infrared emissivity is as high as 0.80, and the α s/ε ratio is ≤ 0.10. It has been applied in thermal control schemes for extreme temperature difference environments (such as the lunar surface -180 ℃~130 ℃).
��️ Low orbital atomic oxygen protection scheme
A SiO ₂ quartz glass protective layer (thickness 1-5 μ m) coating scheme is provided to effectively extend the in orbit service life in response to the erosion problem of low Earth orbit atomic oxygen on the silver layer.
�� High frequency and low loss characteristics
The dielectric constant of FEP substrate fluctuates within the frequency range of 24GHz~77GHz by ≤± 0.02, with extremely low signal loss. It is the preferred material for the insulation layer of high-frequency copper-clad laminates in the 5G millimeter wave frequency band.

Space Lifespan Measurement Data (LDEF Test)

The test data of the long-term exposure facility in the United States exposed to 550km low Earth orbit for several years shows that the annual mass loss of F46 silver plated film is about 2.54 μ m, and the thickness of 0.254mm can ensure reliable service in orbit for more than 30 years.

Procurement suggestionFor long-life missions in low Earth orbit (≥ 10 years), it is recommended to use FEP silver plated film with a thickness of ≥ 0.254mm; If simultaneous atomic oxygen protection is required, an additional SiO ₂ protective layer coating can be added.
