  1. PI film preparation: Select a PI film that meets the requirements as the substrate, ensuring that its thickness, width, flatness, and other indicators meet the subsequent processing needs.

  2. Surface treatment: Clean, degrease, activate and other surface treatments are carried out on the PI film to improve the adhesion and uniformity of the aluminum coating.

  3. Vacuum evaporation: In a vacuum environment, high-purity aluminum wire or block is evaporated into a gaseous state by heating, and then deposited on the surface of PI film to form a coating. During this process, precise control of parameters such as vacuum degree, evaporation temperature, and evaporation rate is required to ensure the quality and thickness of the coating.

  4. Post processing: Cooling, curing, testing and other post-processing are carried out on the PI film after aluminum plating to improve the stability and performance of the product.

Overview of Application Fields of High Temperature Reflective Films


1、 Spacecraft and Satellite Thermal Control System

This is the most classic and demanding application field of PI aluminum plated film, which is a concentrated reflection of its irreplaceable performance.

Multilayer insulation component reflector layer: As the core layer material of multi-layer insulation components for spacecraft. The high infrared reflectivity of the aluminum layer can reflect most of the radiated heat back, while the PI substrate provides mechanical support and can withstand high and low temperature alternation, vacuum ultraviolet, and particle irradiation in space. It is a key material for achieving passive thermal control of spacecraft and maintaining temperature stability of internal equipment.

Solar sail and thermal control coating substrate: A flexible substrate used for the reflective surface of solar sails or special thermal control coatings, utilizing its lightweight, high reflectivity, and ability to wrap over a large area.


2、 Electronic, Electrical, and Thermal Management

By utilizing the conductive and reflective properties of aluminum and the temperature resistance and insulation properties of PI, we can solve the heat dissipation and shielding problems of high-end electronic devices.

High power device heat dissipation and equalization: attached to the back or heat dissipation module of high-power chips (such as CPU, GPU, RF module), serving as a flexible substrate for high-performance equalization plates or thermal pads. The aluminum layer can quickly diffuse heat laterally, while the PI layer provides electrical isolation.

Flexible electromagnetic shielding and grounding: As a local shielding layer and grounding layer for flexible circuit boards (FPCs) or precision electronic modules, it provides excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, especially suitable for space limited or bending applications.

Heat resistant film with high tenderness: Utilizing the conductivity of aluminum layers to create circuits that generate Joule heat through electrical current. The PI substrate enables it to withstand high temperatures and work for a long time, and is used for anti freezing of aerospace pipelines, environmental insulation of precision instruments, etc.


3、 Precision Optics and Display

Utilizing the ultra-high reflectivity of aluminum in the ultraviolet visible near-infrared band (up to 92% or more) and the smooth surface of PI.


High precision flexible reflector: used for lightweight focusing systems, scanning mirrors, laser cavity reflectors, etc. that have strict requirements for weight and shape. Its flexibility allows for the creation of complex surfaces such as non spherical surfaces.
